Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana (AIHS) continues to lead the way in providing comprehensive, community-based services for veterans, caregivers, and individuals living with dementia. Here’s a roundup of their latest initiatives and impact:
🌟 Veteran-Directed Care Now Available
AIHS is now offering the Veteran-Directed Care (VDC) Program, empowering veterans to take control of their long-term care. The VDC program provides veterans with a flexible budget to manage their care—including the ability to hire and manage caregivers. Support is provided through an AIHS Options Counselor, who assists with planning, budgeting, and ongoing counseling.
Key Features:
Veterans decide what services they need and who provides them.
Personalized budgeting for goods and services.
Ongoing support from trained counselors.

🧠 New Rural Respite Program for Dementia Caregivers
Beginning the week of September 8th, AIHS is launching a Rural Respite Program in Steuben and Whitley counties. This free program provides caregivers with 3.5 hours of weekly respite time.
Eligible counties may include: Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wells, and Whitley.

🧪 Join a Research Study on Memory Loss
AIHS is recruiting participants for a study on Caregiver Networks of Older Adults. Both individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers are welcome.
Participation includes:
1.5 to 2 hours of online survey + interview
$100 Target gift card upon completion
